Hi Tweeters,

I saw what is most probably the same duck described by others at the Fill
on 11/29/10 around noon. I have a picture of it resting along the canal
between the main Fill area and the athletic fields. My conclusion was a
domestic mallard hybrid; similar chocolate brown body, gray legs, white
eye stripe, white/cream chest, darker head.

It reminds me in pattern (although darker coloring) of the likely Silver
Swedish type domestic Mallard hybrid I've seen twice now at Green Lake.
Pictures of a bird similar to that one can be found here:

about halfway down the page, under Silver Swedish ducks. In general the
page seems to be a good resource for odd Mallard sightings! Our Fill duck
looks similar to one of the Bibbed hybrids about 2/3 down the page.

Their page on hybrid Mallards is also a great source:

(Thanks to previous Tweeters folks who've helped me with my own Domestic
Mallard cross birds!)

Happy birding,
