Hi Tweeters,

Today (1/22/11) four of us spent a full day birding Cowlitz County, but
failed to visit Lake Sacajawea where the LONG-TAILED DUCK was found
yesterday morning, since I couldn't refind the bird in the afternoon. Error.
I arrived home to an email from Margaret Green, who with John Green had
relocated this county rarity late this afternoon north of the Washington Way
Bridge.

In spite of this miss we had a really fine day with the highlight being the
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK in Willow Grove which to the best of my knowledge was
last seen on 1/5/11. Today it was seen on the north end near address 8731
Willow Grove Road. It was in a small stand of bare deciduous trees just to
the east and behind this address. It was nice to see this bird is still
around, even if it's sometimes difficult to find.

Other good birds included a RUDDY DUCK at the Longview STP. A male
RING-NECKED PHEASANT at the Mint Farm Industrial Area. At the Woodland
Bottoms there were a few TRUMPETER SWANS in with the more prevalent TUNDRA
SWANS and we also found 2 WHITE-BREASTED NUTCHATCHES here.
