One of the interesting results of electronic technology is that information that was once available only on paper is now being encoded in electronic records, so it's accessible to almost everyone with a computer and a web connection. This has implications for some of us who have been magazine collectors; for instance, as long as I keep my subscription to The Atlantic, I can access their huge archive of electronic files, which are just like looking at the original magazine pages, so I recycled years and years of accumulated magazines. I've been in touch with Ted Floyd at Birding (magazine), and something similar will probably happen there, although having the originals scanned into electronic files is costly. Many of us--maybe all of us--can access many journals through libraries, and that's surely going to reduce the amount of paper collections in our homes. Well, anyhoo, even though I'm holding on to my back-issues of Birding, I find I have a few years worth of Birder's World from the '90s, which I'll recycle if no one wants them. If anyone would like to pay for the postage, I'll send them to you; I figure the accumulation weighs around 26-27 lbs., so maybe you can estimate the cost. I'll wait a few days before they go into the recycling bin.

Cheers,
Burt
