Subject: [Tweeters] Hawk Eating Carrion

While driving through the Skokomish Reservation yesterday, my wife
spotted a hawk feeding on the roadside. I turned around and went
back, but couldn't linger at that place because of traffic. It
appeared to be a Red-tailed Hawk feeding on a long-dead carcass of a
Coyote. I have never before observed a Red-Tail feeding on carrion,
and wonder if my identification could be wrong; is there another
Buteo that is a carrion-eater?
