Subject: [Tweeters] Bar-tailed Godwit at Tokeland

I spent the day in Pacific County, on the beach between Grayland Beach S.P. south to Warrenton-Cannery Rd. for most of the day.
I stopped at Tokeland in the morning, but wrong time. The tide was way out, and the feeding frenzy was too far out.

There were 6 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS at Graveyard spit.

A stop at North Cove produced;
SURF SCOTER - 30
PELAGIC CORMORANT - 1
RED-THROATED LOON - 1
HARLEQUIN DUCK - 1

My walk along the beach started at Grayland Beach S.P. and I headed south to the creek. Couldn't cross the creek. Too much water coming through. Had to turn around. Drove down to Warrenton-Cannery Rd. and headed north past Midway Beach, and back. The beach and dunes were very quiet. No Snowy Plovers anywhere, no Mountain Plover, no Horned Larks, and no American Pipits. I did have;
NORTHERN HARRIER - 1
BALD EAGLE - 1
PEREGRINE FALCON - 1
LEAST SANDPIPER - 9
SEMIPALMATED PLOVER - 3
SANDERLING - Lots
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER - 1
CALIFORNIA and WESTERN GULLS

On my way back, I made one more stop at the Tokeland Marina. When I got there, the godwits were just starting to fly in. They landed on the bay side. The birds did a couple rounds of flying up and relanding, and each time more godwits joined in. I scanned the flock several times before locating the BAR-TAILED GODWIT. I'm sure this is the same bird from last fall. Others birds seen were;
COMMON LOON - 8
WESTERN GREBE - 10
HORNED GREBE - 4
BRANT - 150
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE - 37
WILLET - 11
MARBLED GODWIT - 275
DUNLIN - 75
LEAST SANDPIPER - 4
KILLDEER - 14
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER - 9

Other birds seen were
TRUMPETER SWAN - 4 at the wildlife area south of Tokeland.
CACKLER GEESE - lots in the farm fields along SR105.
AMERICAN KESTREL - 4 along Hwy 6.
LESSER SCAUP - 1 Willipa River.
RED-TAILED HAWK - 6 along SR105 and Hwy 6.
