A ROCK WREN was seen and photographed yesterday (Jan. 25) at the base of
Burlington Hill (Burlington, Skagit County). This is a good bird for Skagit
County or anywhere in western WA.

I am reporting a Rock Wren found by Paul DeBruyn & seen by Keith & Jan
Wiggers, May Sue & Lee Dallas, & me today. I just returned home from seeing
it.



Directions: It is at the base of Burlington Hill. Turn east off of Old
Highway 99 between Cook Rd. & Chuckanut Drive's south end. Go through an
industrial park. You will pass a pond full of cattails on you right. The
road will curve right. If you were going to go up Burlington Hill you would
now turn left. DO NOT TURN LEFT, instead continue straight ahead into a flat
rocky area. The bird went all around this area while we were there. Be sure
you DO NOT START GOING UP HILL or you will have gone past it.



The wren called several times while we were there but did not call
frequently, but it spends quite a bit of time on top of rocks as one would
expect of a Rock Wren.
