hi ... Gene and I looped through Julia Butler Hansen Refuge for
Columbian White-tailed Deer this afternoon and we actually SAW SOME
DEER !!!!!!!!! ... only the second time I've seen them there ... the
day was enjoyable ... our highlights were a Red-breasted Merganser
(female) on Steamboat Slough, by herself, and a Western Grebe mixed
in with the Greater Scaups ... Scaups were everywhere with the the
vast majority being Greater ... Had one banded Dusky Goose but I
could only get a partial number ... lots of ducks on the inland
flooded fields ... Red-tails, Harriers, and Bald Eagles were abundant
... also a very photogenic Kestrel male who posed for some fantastic
images ...
