The Red-shouldered Hawk that was first heard at the n.e. corner of Bingen Pond on 22 Dec. and was subsequently seen on a number of occasions in the riparian along the e. side of the Bingen marina through 10 Jan.--well, it's still here! Following are the last 3 entries in the winter season phenology for the Columbia River Gorge:

1 on 10 Jan., again in the area e. of Bingen�s marina: "�We had given up and were leaving his stomping ground when Diane spotted it sitting low in the trees. We got several good pictures... From there it flew to its favourite pole and then on to the trees by the marina where we have observed it previously" (BS, JS, DG, RG).

1 on 29 Jan., the same SY bird, perched low in ash and alder riparian along the e. shore of Bingen�s marina, scoped from the road along the w.sw. bank, from 1427-1535; at one point it perched briefly on a dead steelhead / salmon along the shore. The hawk was still present when I left (SJ).

1 on 30 Jan.: it was seen at daybreak at the Bingen marina (TM, KK).

SY is a second year (immature) bird. So you all still have a chance to see it, if you haven't already.
