Sunday morning Tom Mansfield and I began our day a dawn at the Bingen Marina with notes from Stuart Johnston we were lucky and found the Red-shouldered Hawk which has been in the neighborhood for awhile. The Red-shouldered likes to hang out east of the marina which is private land, but can be viewed looking across the water where one can drive past the port office sign and look from there. While watching it a Peregrine Flacon was seen in the trees along the Columbia River--possibly the same bird we saw on Jan. 8.

We tried for Acorn Woodpecker, but did not find near Balch Lake Road where we have had them in past years. A quick stop for another view of the Red-shoulderedan hour and 30 mins. later and we did not see it. Obviously it moves around, but stays in the general area.

A large flock of Evening Grosbeaks were observed on the main road in Carson coming to a feeder. On the west end of Skamania County on Marble Road a pure white bird (Snow Bunting like) flushed from the weedy edge of the field and could not be relocated. It may be an albino Golden-crowned Sparrow as that is what it was closest to when it flushed. To get to this location go west off of Hwy 14 on Marble Rd. to the Clark/Skamania County line. They bird was in Skamania County just north of this intersection. Weedy field with brambles and a small pile of logs.
