Dear Tweeters,

Thanks to one and all for the Costa's Hummingbird tips. I found two of these birds today at the visitor center of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, just above Palm Desert.

My next quest is for the California Gnatcatcher, so if anyone has any ideas, let me know. I am in Oceanside right now (between LA and San Diego), and tried all day for the gnatcatcher at Guajome Regional Park. I didn't find any, but did get great looks at California Thrashers, Nuttall's Woodpeckers, and a host of other species.

The only other species I intend to search for on this trip is the Lawrence's Goldfinch, so keep those cards and letters coming!

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
