Hi Tweets,

One first of season HEERMANN's GULL was reported by Dennis Duffy on
6-29-11. Numbers are slowly increasing. There were six yesterday and
20 lifted off the south breakwater of the Edmonds Marina this morning
(7-3-11) to join California Gulls, Glaucus-winged Gulls, and Caspian
Terns.

It has been several years since we have seen CASPIAN TERNs so
regularly. They can be seen just about anywhere along the waterfront.
It was about three weeks ago when I first noticed the evening
southbound flights. At that time I had 17 at dusk. Friday night
between 9 and 9:15 I counted 25 passing by.

Yesterday (7-2-11) brought the first of the fall shorebird migration
to Edmonds Marsh. There were a couple of LEAST SANDPIPERS and one
WESTERN SANDPIPER. This morning (7-3-11) there were several Leasts.

Among the swallows at Point Edwards this morning was one VAUX'S SWIFT.
