The number of Caspian Terns appear to be growing at March Point near
Anacortes as well. On 6/24 I saw about 390 there which grew to 1010
this Friday 7/1. Most of them are around the islands north of the
Swinomish Channel, best viewed from the intersection of E March Point
Rd & S March Point Rd.
Other birds of interest seen on Friday, 7/1, include an out-of-season
Long-tailed Duck on the west side of March Point, a Tufted Puffin at
Libbey Beach County Park, 2 Red-throated Loons and 2 Red-necked Grebes
at Hastie Lake Rd, a Horned Grebe at Swantown, and 9 Semipalmated
Sandpipers with the flocks of peeps at Crockett Lake.
