While at friend's house yesterday in Tacoma's North End for the afternoon
and was on his deck on the shady side of the house about 4 pm. Most birds
there were what I could identify - except one. That one was only about 6 to
10 feet from me, a ground feeder and after checking Sibley's when I got
home, looked most like an Oregon Junco - except, it didn't have a black
hood. It was under a shrub so even at that distance it was difficult for me
to see. Other than the lack of the back hood, it did have a brown back, and
light brown breast with one other distinguishing feature - a mottled rump of
white and black. The shape of the bill looked just like the Oregon Junco in
Sibley's. It, like a number of Oregon Juncos that I've seen didn't mind me
watching it, and was not particularly put off by the several people not far
from it.

It's not a barn burner, just curious about what I saw.
