Tweeters,

Sidra Blake and I birded the Gillette Lake trail in Skamania. This trail is a short and easy 5 mile loop from the Bonneville Trailhead. The trail was very birdy and has nice diversity of forest stands due to logging activities. Highlights are as follows:

Spotted Sandpiper - several at the lake
Peregrine Falcon - 2 adults feeding a very large juvenile (very loud...you could hear them screaming the whole time)
Pileated Woodpecker - 1 heard
Purple Martin - dozen or so flying overhead
Cassin's Vireo - 1 at the lake
Warbling Vireo - 15-20 along the trail
Townsend's Warbler - 5-7 mostly at the trailhead
Hermit Warbler - 10-12 scattered along the 1st 1/2 of the trail (very easy to pish and view here)
Black-throated Grey Warbler - ~ 10 along the trail on forest edges
MacGillivary's Warbler - 5-7 birds in the first large overgrown meadow
Lazuli Bunting - 1 in the main meadow

Cheers,
