Subject: [Tweeters] Anyone seeing Purple Martins?

The martins in Tramp Harbor are back on Vashon Island, it seems like in
pretty good numbers. I sent an email to Rich Siegrist, the Vashon martin
guy, to see how they're doing around the Island. Before the hard spring 3-4
years back we were up to about 70 pairs in several locations around Vashon
and Maury Island. They have been very slowly climbing back from less than
half that number. I live in the middle of the Island and they forage every
day over the ridge where I live. I saw them yesterday, usually they are so
high I can only hear them.

Hi Tweets

I just got back from Jack Block Park and Alki and didn't see any activity at
the gourds.

Are Purple Martins being seen anywhere? Or maybe the long cold spell did in
their prey.
