Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday July 7. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On June 30 a female BLUE GROSBEAK was at Chrissey Field State Park on the
California border south of Brookings. A MOCKINGBIRD and a BLACK-AND-WHITE
WARBLER were seen July 1 at Pistol River. The male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK
summering at a feeder south of Depoe Bay continues to be seen.

Southbound migrant shorebirds are now increasing. A PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER
was on the North Spit of Coos Bay July 2. Individual NIGHTHAWKS continue to
be reported over the Willamette Valley.

On July 3 a flock of 12 ELEGANT TERNS were seen flying north at Seal Rocks
State Park. A WESTERN KINGBIRD was at Yaquina Bay July 1.

A pair of EASTERN KINGBIRDS joined the BLACK PHOEBES in nesting at
Ridgefield NWR this summer. On June 22 a pair of GREAT EGRETS were feeding
young in the nest in a heron rookery near Scappoose. Up to eight WHITE
PELICANS are now being seen at Fernhill Wetlands. On June 26 RED-EYED VIREOS
were singing at Grand Island in the Willamette River south of Dayton. A
GOSHAWK was near Philomath July 2.

BLACK SWIFTS are now back at Salt Creek Falls and have been rather easily
seen. A possible NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was heard July 2 along Dry Creek west
of Black Butte. A singing CATBIRD has been seen along the Little Deschutes
near Gilchrist. Another was at the Lower Bridge Wayside near Terrebonne July
4. NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH are seen in the same area. On July 1 a CLARK?S GREBE
and over 50 WHITE PELICANS were on Ochoco Reservoir near Prineville.
