Hey tweets,
Just getting around to some reports from last weekend, when I blasted (mostly) around NE WA.
Started Friday night at Bethel Ridge targeting the "the owl who shall not be named" ;)
(OWSNBN seems too long. How about the "SPecial OWl" ...)
Anyway, got the Bethel, and ran into Khanh Tran, who invited me to chase woodpeckers at the burn. So I followed him up there and saw Black-backed and White-headed Woodpeckers!
Cassin's Finch AND Vireo among others.
I then wandered up the ridge and saw Red-napped Sapsucker, Hermit Thrush, calling Sooty Grouse, Townsends Warbler, Common Poorwill, and Flammulated Owl as evening approached.
Late in the evening, I was serenaded to sleep by a calling Special Owl ! I presume female because the higher pitched calls. She called for probably over an hour!

In the morning, I was rousted out by a screaming Northern Goshawk! Probably a young adult, because the eye was orange, rather then the screaming red of a full adult. And the eyebrow seemed thin and 'unfinished'. It was on the tree tops, at about eye level to where I was camped, so i got extend scope views, at eye level, for over 10 minutes!

On the way out towards Naches, I stopped at several places in the canyon. Nashville warbler at Bear Creek, and White-throated Swift and Golden Eagle at the cliffs near Oak Creek.

A good start to the weekend ....
