Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday July 14. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.
On July 7 a probable male SUMMER TANAGER was seen south of Bandon. It could
not be relocated. A male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK is now coming to a feeder
near Langlois.
Adult sandpiper migration is now in full swing. On July 12 a SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPER was seen at New River. A BAIRD?S SANDPIPER was at Bandon Marsh
July 13. On July 10 a SOLITARY SANDPIPER was at the Redmond Sewage Ponds.
On July 10 a LAPLAND LONGSPUR was with sandpipers at Euchre Creek north of
Gold Beach. The Redmon Pond SNOWY EGRET near the South Jetty at Bandon is
now being regularly seen.
At least 30 WHITE PELICANS are now in the Ridgefield NWR area. Four are
still at the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove and the Fern Ridge Reservoir
flock continues.
That?s it for this week.
