This early morning's 10-foot tide drops to a -1.5 around noon. So at
8:30 a.m. (7-16-11) there was plenty of water in the Edmonds Marsh,
just leaving mud exposed at the east end of the mud zone. This area is
viewed from the red walkway near the tennis courts on the south side
of the Marsh. There were a number of Killdeer and about 12 Least
Sandpipers. No other shorebirds were seen. A number of Mallard
ducklings and Canada Geese were present, as were Red-winged Blackbirds
and both Barn and Violet-green Swallows.

From the public pier I scoped 45 Rhinoceros Auklets, a couple of
Pigeon Guillemots, but no Marbled Murrelets. Surf Scoters were north
of the ferry dock along with a Harbor Seal hauled out on one of the
underwater park buoys. I counted approximately 55 Heermann's Gulls on
the marina's south breakwater along with Glaucous-winged and
California Gulls. NOthing else of interest presented itself in this
morning's drizzle.
