................At Ridgefield Nat'l Wildlife Refuge (north of Vancouver Wash) someone reported counting 62 White Pelicans either yesterday or this morning , On my Auto Tour route patrol I counted 27---14 on the lake just south of Rest Lake and 13 flying overhead towards Rest Lake--in 2 separate groups. But as I drove north on the east side of Rest Lake I didn't see any of these Pelicans or any of the rest of the previous numbers seen there or on adjacent areas. Are they leaving for other parts unknown ??? or looking for new breeding areas away from flooded areas east of the Cascade Mts---or even a possiible spinoff from a smaller breeding group last year from Grays Bay along the SWWash, coast as suggested by anoth erTweeter .Maybe some possible answers here.
................Have a Peregrine Falcon visiting the refuge right now.
