Not only is this a late report, it?s very, very
late. For those who read it, my apologies. The
June report will be following this one, and I?m
even caught up to mid-July! Turkey vultures are
still in migration in places (in this report) and
the early ones will have started nesting.
Following is the report for May 2011 for Washington and Oregon:

01 ? 7 over Beacon Rock State Park; 1 from the
Pt. Wilson area; 1 perched by the road going to
Grenville; 2 at the McCleary cutoff; 1at Gray
Gables; 1 soaring at Grays Harbor City; 1 at Central Park; 1 soaring over Elma
04 ? 1 over Whatcom Falls Park, Bellingham
05 ? 10 low overhead north of Forks; 3 over the
Pilchuck River valley heading north
07 ? 1 at Field Springs State Park; 30-35 near
Vance Creek, Grays Harbor County; 1 in a thermal at Goose Prairie
08 ? 1 feeding on a deer carcass southeast of
Carlton; 3 circling low over a field near Sequim;
1 over Fort Simcoe State Park; 1 over Easton
09 ? 1 over Deer Park which landed on a post with wings stretched out
10 ? 2 heading north over Portland
12 ? 2 over Mount Tabor in Portland; 2 heading
north over Portland; 1 at Theler Wetlands
13 ? ?some? soaring over Hwy 10; 1 in the Teanaway Valley; 6 at Ridgefield NWR
14 ? 1 over Deer Park; 1 over Toppenish Ridge; 5
in a group with a redtail on Ketron Island; 1 between Rockport and Darrington
15 ? 1 at Toppenish NWR; 1 over Tule Road near Toppenish
17 ? 1 over Bainbridge Island; 1 circling over
fields east of Maytown; 1 near Rattlesnake Grade toward the Grande Ronde River
18 ? 16 over Port Townsend; 1 at Steigerwald Lake
NWR; 1 over the Samish Slough Bike Trail, Woodinville
19 ? 3 or 4 at the Cle Elum ponds; ?too many to count? on San Juan Island
20 ? 2 soaring over Ridgefield NWR; 3 over Mount Tabor
21 ? kettle of 10 with 2 adult golden eagles over W Snoqualmie Valley Rd N.E.
22 ? 2 circling over the Bremerton Raceway
26 ? 5 near Exit 32/I-90; 7 near Exit 34; ?a few?
cruising the Hwy 10 cliffs; 1 at Roy
30 ? 2 high over North Portland
