Saturday (7/23) I went to Scriber Lake to?look for the juvenile Cooper's hawk I had seen there earlier this month.?? Last year?I photographed four juvies?calling to each other?and chasing each other on the ground and through the air.??? Yesterday I heard the familiar calls and saw three of them chasing?each other through the air.? Like last year, the activity occured on the west end of the park.

From Scriber Lake I drove to the osprey nest in the cell phone tower in the ?back lot of Dunn Lumber on Hwy. 99 near 164th St.??The female was sitting on a rail above the nest.? I could not tell if any babies were in it.?? The male was not present in his usual spot on the family tree in the marsh south of the nest.

The osprey nest in the light stand at the Meadowdale softball complex provided the most?entertainment as I photographed the male making a fresh fish delivery to the nest and the female feeding one of the babies.??? I previously photographed two babies in the nest, but only saw one yesterday.??It can be hard to keep track of the Meadowdale?osprey as they fly between the nest and the nearby family tree.??My photos?are quite handy to sort out the action after I return home.?Other osprey cruise the neighborhood to and from fishing trips to the Sound as well.
