Hello Tweeters,
It was not the right tide To going birdying to the Ocean. The High tide was
in the evening at 5.30 PM
I took a lens out for trying to get pictures to see how good the lens
is.The lens is Nikon ED AF 80-200mm 1:2.8 D.
I visiting Ocean Shores enter the Game Range from the Water Tower and
walked to the ponds where on the small pond stood a Blue Heron, but I was
able to click 1 photo, and the bird flew off, where I was able to get 2 photos
in flight what I real liked.Further down I Photographed a female Harrier 2
photos which also looked OK.On the big ponds where all the action was with
the high count of Semi-palmated Sandpipers the beach deserted.Walking
quite way where I HAD 2 different birds of Least
Sandpipers ,one on the beach on the waters edge and 1 bird on some
driftwood. There I had the opportunity to get 8 photos, all photos turned out
great!!!!!!! Out of 8 shots there are all on my website. I made a turn to
returning to my car on the Water Tower.
On the bay side I Spotted a Red Throated Loon in juvenile plumage, this bird
never dove ,so I took 4 pictures (all OK )
I was kind of discouraged not having more birds ,driving to Bowerman
Basin, where I remember some one mention that there was no Water at all in
the pond,on Shore I saw 8 Caspian Tern on the water's edge ( this birds
turning out great.So I decided
driving to Bottle Beach. where the high tide was at 6.42 PM at a 7.4 feet
tide. The Shorebirds mostly all Dowitcher's looking quit dark do to the low
Sun I was facing .I went closer but all birds flew up in the air calling
loudly high pitched keek ,assuming that there all where Long-billed
Dowitcher's with few Black-bellied Plovers.I had enough time to shoot 2
photos,what seems so clear
That some of the birds seeing the plumage. There where about 500 birds with
no peeps at all
I was happy and satisfied of the performance of this Nikon Lens.Every
picture looked good what I took non was bad not to being shown, that never
happen with my 80-400 mm 1:4.5-5.6D lens.
I drove to Tokeland in hope I could find the big group of Shorebirds close
by,but there was only a small Group of Marbled Godwit on the Jetty around
250 birds
Driving out I Had an interesting Gull on the big rocks where on the wings
some part is missing(maybe this bird is molting ore it could be a
Glaucous-winged hybrid. Looks like a first ore second year bird.I never saw
a gull with this dark spots .
All the photos I took on this Gull 12 photos all turned out good
