Subject: [Tweeters] Westport Pelagic on Sunday the 24th

Our first back to back weekend pelagic's were of great success. With the weather being very favorable, both days had sunny skies and lots of birds.
The trip that was on Sunday was very similar to species account and numbers. So instead of listing all, I will mention a few differences from Ryan Shaw's account of the Saturday trip.
Black-footed Albatross numbers were a little higher but not like our early trips this year. Pink-footed Shearwater numbers were also higher. We had good numbers of both Fork-tailed and Leach's Storm-Petrels. No Red Phalaropes were sighted. We did have 3 or 4 Sabine's Gulls, which were the first of the summer. No Long-tailed Jaegers were seen, but we had one Parasitic and maybe a dozen Pomarines. Six sightings of South Polar Skua was a highlight. No HORNED PUFFIN like on Saturday but we did have one Tufted Puffin that put on a show right next to the boat.
Our first Risso's Dolphins of the year were feeding very close to us. No whales were sighted.
Most of up coming trips are full, but some may have a few spaces availabe. If interested, please check our website at www.westportseabirds.com.
Trip leaders on Sunday were Scott Mills, Michael Donahue and myself.
