Could they be baby Townsend's chipmunks?
The life history summary says: Breeding Mates in spring; 1 litter per
year of 2-6 young born May-June.
That would be my guess without seeing them.
The Burke Museum website has a nice guide to the mammals of Washington:

Subject: [Tweeters] OT mammal question

Hi Tweets,
I have 2 new chipmunks in the yard. They are smaller, almost half the
size
of our Townsend Chipmunks, lighter in color a pale brown instead of the
rich
brown of the bigger guys.
I cannot find that we have more then one type of chipmunk on the west
side.
Anyone know???
Thank you in advance.
