Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday July 28. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

A RED-NECKED STINT is now being seen south of Bandon near the mouth of New
River. Access to the area is very difficult and takes some effort. On July
24 a LONG-TOED STINT was reported near the south Jetty at Bandon.

Heavy shorebird movements continue. CALIFORNIA GULLS are now moving toward
the coast and swallows are now gathering into large flocks preparing to move
southward. On July 24 a flock of 12 GREAT EGRETS were seen passing northward
over the ocean south of Newport.

A July 22 shorebird survey at Lake Abert found 6154 AVOCETS, 17,700 WILSON?S
PHALAROPES, 3000 CALIFORNIA GULLS, and 950 EARED GREBES.

That?s it for this week.
