Subject: [Tweeters] Upcoming road trip to OR and ID: advice sought

Tweets,

We're taking a road trip in our spiffy new RAV-4 to eastern Oregon
(Wallowas, Blue Mountains) and across to Boise and Pocatello, then up the
east side of Idaho (Sawtooth and Bitterroot ranges) toward Missoula, and
then back along the Selway River to the west. Departing 8 August, returning
3-4 weeks later.

We will have a couple of kids with us, but they're 14 and 11 and pretty
interested birders. I'm seeking suggestions for places to visit, hikes to
take, special birds to keep our eyes peeled for - just generally, looking
for ideas. We're planning to take 3-4 weeks to do the whole thing, camping
and occasional motel stays; we're up for hikes of up to five or so miles,
but probably no more than that, and we will have a dog with us, so no US
National Park trails (since dogs are not allowed there). We do have a NW
Forest Pass.

This may be the kind of topic a lot of people want to weigh in on, so feel
free to email me directly if you don't want to mail to the list, and I'll
summarize for the group.

Thanks in advance for your great suggestions!

-Josh Hayes, in North Seattle
