Subject: [Tweeters] Osprey Entangled in Piece of Fabric

We are visiting family in Eagle, Idaho, three miles from Boise.

While on a walk this evening, we passed near a nesting Osprey pair on Mace Road. One Osprey was sitting on the utility pole by the nest and the other Osprey left the nest, circled the field and we noticed that it was trailing a sizable piece of what appeared to be frayed landscape fabric. My husband saw the Osprey last night and assumed it was bringing something to the nest, but it is clearly entangled.

I don't know if any of you have contact connections in Idaho, but if so, it would be great to be able to help this beautiful bird. I think there may be some IBOL listers on Tweeters. I plan to call the World Center for Birds of Prey tomorrow, but am not sure who else I can reach on a weekend. There is an old nesting platform on Mace that was used two years ago, but the occupied nest is farther out on Mace across from a horse farm with a white rail fence. Mace runs along the boundary of Two Rivers Subdivision.
