Hi all

After a marvelous day of birding up Highway 20, I returned home at approximately 7:00 p.m. to discover a brilliant male Lazuli Bunting foraging in my gravel/grassy driveway, and then again, once I had a chance to grab my bins and run outside, it returned for a few seconds. It was a little bluebird of happiness I certainly never expected to put on my yard list.

Isa Werny, Pam Pritzl and John Edison spent the day birding Highway 20, producing many of the usual suspects and the following highlights:

Corkingdale Creek -
Least Flycatcher, easily visible and vocalizing
Lazuli Bunting

In the field with the long-horned cattle, across the road from the entrance to the Corkindale Creek trail -
Black Billed Magpie - foraging in the field

In the trees just west of the cattle field, on the way to the swallow show by the river -
Northern Mockingbird -

Agg Ponds at Newhalem (just outside Skagit Co. I think)
Redstarts

What a great day of birding we had - can't wait to read the reports from others we met birding up there today.
