Hello All,



I have been working on a water feature in my yard recently. It has an 8x10
pond with three little pools that flow from one another into the pond. It's
running right now and I still have aquatic plants to add along with edging
design.



My question is about a fountain. The pump I bought had a fountain included
with it. I currently have it set up so the water is pumped up to the top
pool and then it flows to the pond while the fountain shoots water up about
30 inches high in the middle of the pond. The fountain adds some really nice
sounds to the feature. It creaes much more sound than the water flowing in
from the little pools.



My specific question is about whether this fountain is an asset or
liability. The fountain sound should help alert birds to the presence of
water which is good. However I'm wondering is the water squirting 30 inches
above the pond might keeps birds away?



It's only been running for a week now but I haven't seen any birds using it
yet. I'm sure finishing the edges will make it more attractive but would
love to know if anyone has tested effectiveness with and without a fountain?
