Tweets, Around 8:30 this morning I drove by the Scissor-tail Flyctr spot,
didn?t have time to stop. Around 11:30 did a too-quick check of the trail
around 11:30 (Jim Presky was just arriving), starting where it crosses
Military Rd and covering maybe 2/3 of the way to where it is crossed by
Waldrick, nearly to the bike trail mile 19.5. No bird, but this doesn?t mean
they?re gone. There were a lot of bikers out. Burney?s directions (below)
are good. At Waldrick x Military there is parking sort-of, just don?t block
the cattle gates (as per Burney). Alternative parking: alongside Waldrick at
the entry road to the ranch (down the hill to the W), perhaps ? mile N of
intersection, and walk the trail north-to-south. I may check on it in the
next hour. Other interesting birds around: Vesper Sparrow (heard singing ESE
of the 19.5 trail milepost), W Bluebird, House Wren, Chipping Sparrow
Good
birding!

Burney Huff?s directions:
The location where we spotted the birds is about a mile south of the Monarch
Contemporary Art Center and between where the trail intersects with Waldrick
Road and Military Road. After intersecting with the trail, Waldrick Road
turns south and runs parallel, and very close to, the trail. At this point,
Waldrick Road is on the west side of the trail. The utility poles are very
short along this rural road and the utility lines are between Waldrick Road
and the trail. The total sight distance from me to the perched bird was
probably about 50 feet.
