I just got a response from Burney Huff and he stands by his identification of the flycatchers. The people I spoke with that said it was a Scrub Jay had not seen the bird. As I say it is hard to mistake a flycatcher for a Scrub Jay from 50 ft.

Get yourself to Tenino is the easiest starting point. Go east towards Yelm on Hwy 507 about 2 miles to Military Rd. It goes to the left. It will be the second time you see Military Rd the first time is just outside of town. Follow the Military Road until you come to Waldrick Road. It is about 1.5 miles or so. It turns left. There is a bike trail all along the road there. I am unsure of the exact location along that section of road but that is the area where the bird/birds were seen.

If this indeed is a correct report of Scissor-tailed Flycatchers, would somebody please enlighten us to the location of Military - and Waldrick Roads? Is this in Chehalis? We do have a lot of miles of Military Road in South King County.

Is this sighing correct or not. I went out to the sight today and three people told me that this was a mistaken report? They stated that the birds were actually Scrub Jays. It seems to me it would be a hard bird to mistake from 50 feet. I didn't stick around to look since because of the report. I did get a nice look at a California Quail on a fence post calling just south of the report site.
