Hi all,
There are at least three reasons for a serious negative?detection-bias toward
the end of the migration:

1) a slow day can make you think it's over and you can reduce surveillance
2) (If you're listers like we are,) the chance that?the birds you see will be
new to any list keeps?decreasing
3) The vegetation fills out and grows in, making birds in the bush?much harder
to see

That may account for our surprise?this evening?when we had Warbling Vireo,
Pacific-slope Flycatcher and Wilson's Warbler(s) in quick succession?at Butyl
Creek after essentially?ignoring it all day.? (Butyl Creek is our 10 ft.
recirculating creek in our backyard on Beacon Hill.)
