Today I spent four leisurely hours in my kayak watching a new Common
Merganser family on the Samammish Slough beside Marymoor, between the
weir and the north end of the lake. One mother and ten babies. I held
my breath as they ventured into the open waters of the lake, as there
were two mature Bald Eagles busy hunting. Luckily, there were no
casualties. Here's a photo:
