I usually hear and see OS flycatchers during spring migration through my area north of Spokane in mid-May. This year, I saw one and heard others for the first time on June 5 and still heard one a couple of days ago. They brood in the more alpine areas of our region that are still seeing falling snow. When I heard one a couple of days ago, I wondered if the weather conditions could push brooding lower this year.

Another alpine brooder in our region that seems late is the Townsend's warbler.

I have OS Flycatchers every year in the creek next to the house. They have always shown up sometime in the 20's of May. Today I heard the first one this is extremely late and I was wondering if I was going to have any this year.

It sounds great!
