Dan, loved hearing your nighthawk story, in part because I had my very first--and long awaited--sighting of one sleeping on a branch this past weekend in the Yakima Canyon. It was such a treat as I've only seen them in flight before, also in the Canyon.

I think nighthawks are pretty singular in how their appearance in flight is so vastly different from their at-rest appearance--on the wing they appear sleek but at rest they have an odd boat-like shape.
