Hi, I'm out on foot or driving an airboat in Grays Harbor every weekday and after perhaps a short lull, this week the harbor had more diversity of shorebirds evident than the previous few weeks had. A few Westerns, Leasts, Dunlin, Sanderlings (not often encountered by me within the harbor), Black-bellied and Semipalmated Plovers (dozens), Whimbrel and Greater Yellowlegs were all present. The Humptulips River Mouth and Elk River were the best spots.
Nearly 1000 Brown Pelicans at the Westport Marina last week was quite the sight, when as recently as the 23rd of May there were a mere 40.
