Date: Jun 18 14:34:59 2011
From: Robin Baird - rwbaird at cascadiaresearch.org
For those of you interested in unusual mammals for Washington, a long-beaked common dolphin has been in the area around the north end of Budd Inlet since at least June 5th. It has been seen from the Boston Harbor side of the inlet, in the area between Boston Harbor and Burfoot Park. If you are interested in a photo of the animal there is one on the Cascadia Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cascadia-Research-Collective/110495958982184
If anyone sees the dolphin please report your sighting to the Cascadia office -943-7325 - this species is extremely rare north of central California and we are very interested in keeping track of it.
Thanks,
Robin
