Hello Tweeters,
This morning in the feeder bowl, hanging on my front porch, I had a small blackbird with a yellow stripe (small) on it's wing. The bird was smaller than a robin, about the size of a starling.

I told my husband "we have a red winged blackbird". He looked and said he grew up in California and "that isn't a red wing, there is no red". He said he saw only yellow, and more yellow as it flew away.

Was I wrong, I find nothing close in the ibird west app or my searches.

On another topic, the Killdeer pair are still nesting outside my kitchen. I anticipate the eggs hatching any day (or moment) now. I got a pretty good photo of, I think, the female. It's in my Flickr. The set is called 'birds, new house' and my username is nobleday. The main "problem" has been the children and grandchildren of my neighbor, helping the bird."it's hurt, we're helping it". It's display to get them away from the nest seemed to be working.
