Bill Kaufman and I are the official Saturday night swift counters at
the Frank Wagner Elementary. Counts were getting smaller a bit over a
week ago so the spring counting period was official terminated on the
11th. Being enamored of the local taco truck and the fact that birds
were still being seen, we decided to do a regular count last night.
Remember, the migration was supposedly over. No one told the swifts.

Last night we counted 2,540 Vaux's swifts enter the chimney. When we
arrived they were already going in so who knows the final number. I
doubt the migration is over - perhaps the unpleasant weather is
prolonging their normal schedule. For the record, last night was
overcast with light rain.
