My husband and I did a 3+-week tour of Chile and Argentina (including
Patagonia) with Mark Smith Nature Tours (based in Portland) and were
very pleased with it. He takes up to 14 people, but there were only 6 on
ours (including ourselves). It's not 100% birding emphasis, but in this
instance it mostly focused on birds. Great guide, fellow travelers,
itinerary, and accommodations. It was nice to have everything arranged
for us, so that we could concentrate full time on enjoying the birds and
the scenery.

Mark Smith Nature Tours also does trips to Africa, Australia, the
Caribbean and other locations.
