Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday June 23. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On June 22 a BROWN THRASHER and a NORTHERN PARULA were at Malheur NWR
Headquarters. A male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was near Depoe Bay June 17. On
June 19 an OVENBIRD was heard calling in Battleground.

Spring migration is about over. NIGHTHAWKS were reported during the week
from Astoria, Finley NWR, Eugene, and Portland.

On June 17 a SAGE THRASHER was at Harris Beach State Park. Three SNOWY
EGRETS were seen that day along the Winchuck River south of Brookings. A
female YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was seen June 17 at Flores Lake. A breeding
plumaged PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER seen June 16 at Oregon Dunes Overlook south
of Florence. About 50 WHIMBREL were seen during the week at Yaquina Bay. On
June 18 a group of 12 BALD EAGLES was on Youngs Bay near Astoria.

On June 16 a WESTERN KINGBIRD and three EASTERN KINGBIRDS were at Ridgefield
NWR. Two RED-EYED VIREOS were heard singing June 19 at Clearwater Park in
Springfield. A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW colony was found June 16 along Goodrich
Road north of Sutherlin.
