Subject: [Tweeters] Northwestern Crow

Hi Tweets

But you don't hear the higher-pitched yelp of the 'continental' crow among
the crows of Vancouver BC, except occasionally in winter when a slightly
larger American Crow joins a flock of the NW's, and it's usually pretty
obvious. Most of the time, what you usually hear is the lower-pitched,
harsher bark of the Northwestern Crow.

Has anyone done any European-style genetic work on these two (probably
indentical) taxa? For the last twenty years, the Euros are usually well
ahead of such taxonomic challenges. And that would settle the question once
and for all. Otherwise, we're in the position of looking up at the bottom of
a bird's nest and trying to guess how many eggs are in in it.

best wishes
