Thanks to Mary's hospitality and good directions, I saw the hen with ten
young briefly today at about 3:30.

Looked like a great area in general for more birding.

Subject: [Tweeters] Baby Mountain Quail

Had two different hen mountain quail bring by their little ones today. Just
after noon a hen with seven fluffballs the size of golf balls were down in
the old road. The little guys were pecking at everything in sight. Around
3:15 another hen with ten tiny balls of down were just outside my family
room window. These tiny bits of life were about the size of pingpong balls.
They too were pecking at anything and everything. The rain sent both
batches scurrying after their respective visits.

Seems a bit early for little ones to be out and about. Maybe nature is
making up for lost time. How else can you explain the blackberries already
in bloom in my yard???
