Subject: [Tweeters] starling question

I'm in a basement apartment with a patio that's about 6 feet lower than the
driveway above. For years I've got Stellars jays and crows - which I
adore. And this year hummingbirds and flickers - again much wanted birds.
None of these birds have defecated on my patio ever and the corvids are here
most of the time all day (even before sun rise and after sunset).
Unfortunately, also this year I'm getting starlings, which I don't want and
defecate all over the patio.
*Is there any way to discourage the starlings and not the rest of the birds
that I'm getting and wanting? * I do try to throw out food only when the
birds I want are there and usually it's peanuts and some kibble - but the
starlings swoop down and sometimes chase the other birds away and they come
in huge numbers - even more than my Stellars (I usually have between 4-8
Stellars this year and in the past up to 17 at a time).
Thanks,
