Subject: [Tweeters] Western Scrub Jay at Drayton Harbor

Saturday morning, February 26th found California birder Sal Salerno and me
heading north on Harbor View Road in Whatcom County. As we approached the
intersection with Drayton Harbor Road, Sal casually mentioned, that we just
passed a *Western Scrub Jay*. This of course is a very common bird for him.
It prompted me to turn around and indeed there it was in a bush on the east
side of the road. When it flew away from the road, a *Steller's Jay* also
popped up and followed the Scrub Jay. There was a mixed flock of* Red-winged
Blackbirds* and *European Starlings* in a bush nearby. This may be a
location at which Western Scrub Jays have been reported previously.

Good Birding!
