Yesterday afternoon about 4:45,?a NORTHERN GOSHAWK adult showed up for about five minutes in the snag tree visible from our house.? We assume - but obviously cannot be certain - that this is the same bird which was present intermittently December 27, 28 and 29th in the same location.? Having this bird show up again (assuming it is the same bird) gives rise to a number of interesting questions - has it been around since the December sightings; might it be resident in the forest adjoining the snag tree; is it possible there is a pair of birds and therefore potential nesters?? All unknowable answers, but intriguing nonetheless.?

The photos aren't great - windy conditions, late afternoon, and digiscoped through the kitchen window - but still nice to have, given the rarity of the sighting.
