Tweeters,

Several birders, including myself, have been able to verify the presence of an apparant roost for Black-crowned Night-Herons in Stanwood the last couple of days. The roost is located at the Josephine Care Facility just a couple blocks north of Downtown Stanwood. Easiest view of the roosting tree is from the parking lot itself on the west side of the facility. Looking south, over the top of the building, the only tree taller than the roof line is the tree. I tried last evening to speak with someone inside about accessing the courtyard where the tree is located, but the facility is large and the person I spoke with wasn't even sure how to access it. At any rate, that seems to not be necessary as you can view from the parking lot without disrupting their operations.
