Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report

The Aloha COSTA?S HUMMINGBIRD continues to be seen.

RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS moved northward during the week reaching Astoria and
Salem by March 6. A small but steady movement of BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES was
seen during the week along the coast.

The LONG-TAILED DUCK and the Bay City RUDDY TURNSTONE continues at Tillamook
Bay. On March 3 a TRUMPETER SWAN was at Flores Lake. Six FERRUGINOUS HAWKS
at Alfalfa March 5 was part of the general northward movement of hawks
during the week.

On March 6 two TUFTED DUCKS were at Jones Beach near Clatskanie. A
LONG-EARED OWL was seen March 6 on Sauvie Island. The young GOLDEN EAGLE
continues to be seen at the end of Rentenaar Road on the island. The pellet
plant BLACK PHOEBE continues to be seen.

Up to 1000 LESSER SCAUP, 250 GREATER SCAUP, 18 COMMON GOLDENEY, a SURF
SCOTER, and a TUFTED DUCK were seen during the week on the Columbia River in
North Portland. Three GLAUCOUS GULLS were along nearby Gertz Road. The Sandy
River WRENTIT was singing March 4. A small flock of WESTERN BLUEBIRDS are
now at Powell Butte Park near Gresham. A MUTE SWAN and two TRUMPETER SWANS
were among the swan flock near the Tillamook junction on Hwy 26 March 9. On
March 4 a MOCKINGBIRD was seen near Junction City. A flock of at least 30
RAVENS was seen March 4 near Merlin. On March 7 a GREATER SCAUP was in Bend.
