Hello to the Warbler Hopefuls,

For some reason this time of year Dark-eyed Junco's love to sound just like Orange-crowned Warblers. I have been fooled more than once til I saw the Junco's bill move when the sound was being made. It is so easy to get in the Orange-crowned Warbler mood. But then again it really could be an Orange-crowned since a few do winter over. Until it gets later in the spring I don't trust my ears as to who is who unless I see the bird.

Speaking of birds sounding like other birds, at the last Kent Ponds Census there was a Steller's Jay that made a sound much like a Virginia Rail and it was in Virginia Rail habitat. Very weird.
